BW Sophomore Scavuzzo Finishes Season at NCAA National Tourney
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University sophomore 174-pounder Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/ Woodridge) competed at the 2009 NCAA Division III National Tournament today (Friday, March 6) in the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
 
After receiving a first-round bye, Scavuzzo lost his second-roud match to third-seed Kyle Vanderhyde of Olivet (Mich.) College, 14-4.  In the consolation bracket, he dropped a 5-3 decision to the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh's Sam Engelland, which ended the double elimination tournament for Scavuzzo.
 
"We're very proud of Andrew and what he has accomplished this season," said veteran head coach Rich Fleming.  "Andrew is one of the best wrestlers in the [Ohio Athletic] Conference.  We will be expecting more of the same from him next season."
 
Scavuzzo, who won the Ohio Athletic Conference title in the 174-pound weight class two weeks ago, is now 24-11 this season and 45-26 in his two-year career.
