BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team finished with a 0-4 record at the 2008 Olivet (College Comet Duals today (Saturday, November 22) in Olivet, Michigan. All four of BW's opponents were nationally ranked.
The Yellow Jackets, now 1-10 overall, lost to host and 29th-ranked Olivet, 41-3, lost to #28 Trine (Ind.) University, 34-10; lost to the fifth-ranked University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, 43-4, and lost to the 11th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Steven's Point, 42-4. Individually, senior 133-pounder Brian Bucher (Ottawa Hills/ Avon Lake) led the team with a 4-0 record.
In the loss versus Olivet, Bucher was the lone victory as he claimed a 7-4 victory versus Olivet's Kyle Labrecque. In the loss versus Trine, Bucher won his match 6-4, senior 165-pounder Joe Incorvaia (Medina/ Highland) won his match 3-1 and sophomore 184-pounder Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/ Woodridge)won by a solid, 13-2 count. In the loss versus Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Bucher was the lone winner as he captured a 13-4 major decision against UW-L. In the loss versus Wisconsin-Steven's Point, Bucher again won a major decision with a 15-6 triumph.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, November 25 when they travel to Universty Circle to face Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University in a dual match at 7:00 p.m. At that match, ESPN is sending a film crew to tape the collegiate wrestling debut of BW freshman 255-pounder Terence Haynes (Brunswick Hills/ Glenville), who is 45 years old.
