Women's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Clash to Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio – Junior attack player Emma Harding (Hudson) scored three goals, but the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team lost to The College of Wooster, 13-5, on Andrew Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

In addition to Harding for BW (3-3) senior midfielder Cara Wood (Shaker Heights/ Laurel) and sophomore All-OAC midfielder Maddie Russell (Rocky River) each scored a goal. Wooster (7-2) was led by the trio of Shelby Stone, Ashley Parry and Ellie Hudson-Heck with three goals each.

In the first half, the Yellow Jackets gained a 1-0 lead at 23:32 when junior Emma Harding (Hudson) scored her seventh goal this season via an assist from freshman Caitlin Wheeler (River Forest, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest). Wooster tied it 1-1 at the 20:00 mark and proceeded to take a 5-1 lead. The Jackets scored the final goal of the first half when Harding tallied her eighth with 11 seconds left via the fifth assist this season from senior attack Collen Bodkin (East Amherst, N.Y./ East Amherst) to make it 5-2 at the intermission.

In the second half, BW closed to 5-3 at 25:45 when senior midfielder Cara Wood (Shaker Heights/ Laurel) scored her seventh goal of the season via the eighth assist from sophomore All-OAC midfielder Maddie Russell (Rocky River).  Wooster scored the next six goals to build its largest lead at 11-3. Harding ended the Fighting Scot onslaught with her third of the game and ninth of the season at 10:54 with an assist from sophomore All-OAC midfielder Katie Kocher (Rocky River). A Wooster goal at 10:33 made it 12-4 and BW countered with the 11th goal this season from Russell at 5:34 via the fourth assist from Wood.

In goal for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore netminder Amanda Getto (Medina) faced 39 total shots, including 29 on goal,  allowed 13 goals and made 16 saves.

Wooster outshot BW, 39-16, including a 29-10 advantage in shots on goal.  The Fighting Scots had a 35-27 lead in ground balls, a 12-10 advantage in caused turnovers and led 11-9 in draw controls.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Friday, April 3 when they travel to Wilmington, Ohio to open 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference play at Wilmington College at 1 p.m.
