BW Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Becker (Mass.) in Bradenton, Florida

BRADENTON, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team defeated Becker (Mass.) College, 20-2, in Bradenton, Florida during its annual spring break trip to the Sunshine State. 

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first half, then Becker finally broke through by scoring with 00:43 left. Becker scored its final goal at the 12:04 mark in the second half. BW had goals from 9 different players.

BW (1-1) was led by junior Emma Harding (Akron/ Ritchfield Reserve) and freshman Caitlin Wheeler (River Forest, Ill./ Oak Park-River Forest) who both scored 4 goals. Senior Colleen Bodkin (East Auroa, N.Y./ East Auroa) also scored 3 goals.

In the first half, BW jumped out to an 11-0 lead and were led by Bodkin who scored all 3 of her goals in the first half. Harding and Wheeler each had 2 goals as well. BW also had goals from sophomore Maddie Russel (Lakewood/ Rocky River), sophomore Kelsey Johnson (Carmel, Ind./ Park Tudor), senior Cara Wood (Shaker Heights/ Laurel) and freshman Erica Eyerman (North Olmsted/ Magnificat).

In the second half, Harding and Wheeler each scored an additional 2 goals. Johnson, Russell and Wood each scored again in the second half. Goals also came from sophomore Katie Kocher (Rocky River) and sophomore Jenna Turner (Carmel, Ind./ Carmel).

The first northern and home game is on March 18 versus Albion (Mich.) College in The George Finnie Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The first Ohio Athletic Conference contest is on Friday, April 3 at Wilmington College at 1 p.m.
