Getto Sparks BW Women’s Lacrosse Victory against Muskingum

BEREA, Ohio – Sophomore netminder Amanda Getto (Medina) recorded two saves and scored a career-high three goals as the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse won a 20-1 Ohio Athletic Conference game against Muskingum University on the Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (6-5, 3-2 OAC) have won two straight games while Muskingum (0-12, 0-5 OAC) remains winless in its inaugural season.

BW was led by senior attack Collen Bodkin (East Aurora, N.Y.) with a game-high four goals and three assists.  Getto, sophomore All-OAC midfielder Maddie Russell (Rocky River) and junior attack Emma Harding (Akron/Revere) all tallied three goals apiece. Freshman attack Caitlin Wheeler (River Forest, Ill. /Oak  Park-River Forest), freshman midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson) and freshman defender Lauryn Wright (Orrville) all contributed two goals.

The Yellow Jackets opened the game with eight unanswered goals with two coming from Wheeler and one apiece from HardingKocher and Bodkin.  The Fighting Muskies got on the board when Ashley Adams scored the unassisted goal at the 20:31 mark.  BW scored the final five goals of the half to lead 10-1 at the intermission.   The Yellow Jackets got two goals from Russell and one each from BodkinHarding and Miller with the last coming at 5:00.

BW scored all 10 goals in the second half with three coming from Getto, two coming Bodkin and Wright and one each from HardingMiller and Russell with the last coming with two seconds left in the game.

In goal for the Yellow Jackets, Getto played the first half and faced four total shots allowed one goal and made two saves.   Sophomore Gabrielle Nondorf (Indianapolis, Ind. /Bishop Chatard) played the final 30 minutes and did not face a shot.

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 25 when it travels to Bexley for an OAC game against Capital University at 1 p.m.

The OAC Tournament begins on Wednesday, April 29 with semifinal games at the site of the highest seeded team. The OAC Championship Game and NCAA Division III National Tournament berth will be decided on Saturday, May 2 at the highest remaining seed.
