Kocher's Six Points Leads BW Women’s Lacrosse to Win against Division II Walsh

BEREA, Ohio – Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Katie Kocher (Rocky River) scored a game-high six points as the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team won its second straight game against a NCAA Division II opponent with an 11-5 victory against Walsh University on Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium.

BW (3-2), who is now 2-1 on its current homestand, got two goals and a game-best four assists from Kocher.  Senior attack Victoria Budzyn (East Aurora, N.Y.) scored a game-high three goals while  senior attack Colleen Bodkin (East Aurora, N.Y.)  and sophomore All-OAC midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) each added two goals.  Bodkin added two assists while Russell had one.

Walsh (2-4) was led by Steffi Zepp with two unassisted goals. Emma Armour Lane Brunkala and Maria Nobile all scored one goal.

In the first half, the Yellow took an early 3-1 lead on goals by Russell, sophomore attack Kelsey Johnson (Carmel, Ind. / Park Tudor) and Budzyn with the last coming at the 20:34 mark.   After the Cavaliers scored two goals to tie the game at 3-3, BW scored five unanswered goals to lead 8-3 at the intermission.   The Yellow Jackets got two goals each from Budzyn and Bodkin during the run.

BW scored the first two goals of the second as they got scores in the first three minutes from Kocher and Russell.  Walsh scored the game's final two goals each coming from Zepp at the 18:44 mark and with 49 seconds left.

In goal for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore netminder Amanda Getto (Medina) faced 21 shots, including 16 on goal.  Getto allowed five goals and made 11 saves for her third win of the season.  
BW outshot the Cavaliers 39-21, including a 24-16 advantage in shots on goal.  The Yellow Jacket had a 25-17 lead in ground balls as well in caused turnovers with an 18-10 advantage.   Walsh had a 10-7 lead in draw controls.
