Women’s Golf Wins Webber International (Fla.) Invitational

LAKE WALES, Fla.  – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team closed out its spring break trip by winning the Webber International University Invitational at the Lake Wales Country Club 

BW was first of two teams with 356 strokes.  Trine (Ind.) University, who defeated the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday in a dual match, had 364 strokes.   Webber International did not qualify for a team score as it only had three players including the tournament medalist.

BW was led by junior Anna Schatschneider (Avon) as she finished in second place with a round of 85.  Freshman Kelly Linnabary (Westerville/Central), who fired a career low round on Wednesday afternoon, and freshman Leah Metzger (Ashland) tied for fifth place with a round of 90. Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Emily Hunt (Marysville) tied for eighth with a round of 91. Rounding out the top five was senior Grace Magee (Skaneateles, N.Y.) with a round of 96. 

Playing as individuals were sophomore Aubrey Baumler (Huron), sophomore Rachael Sladky (North Olmsted) with a round of 114 and freshmen Mary Fraley (Cleveland/Mayfield) and Sladky had the low individual round with a 94.  Baumler posted a round of 108 and Fraley had a 129.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31 when they travel to Alliance to compete in the University of Mount Union Spring Invitational at the Tannenhauf Golf Club.
