Women’s Golf Takes Third at Weather Shortened Mount Union Spring Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team placed third at the weather shortened University of Mount Union Spring Invitational at the Tannenhauf Golf Course.

The invitational was scheduled for two days and 36-holes but was shortened to one-day and 18 holes due to weather and course conditions.

BW was third of four teams with a round of 369 on the par-72 and 6,189-yard Tannenhauf layout.  Mount Union was the champion with 333 strokes.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Grace Magee (Skaneateles, N.Y.) as she fired a round of 80 to tie for ninth place of 38 golfers.  Junior Anna Schatschneider (Avon) and freshman Kelly Linnabary (Westerville/Central) each carded round rounds of 93.  Freshman Leah Metzger (Ashland) posted a round of 94.   Rounding out the top five was junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Emily Hunt (Marysville) as she tallied a round of 95.  

Playing as individuals were senior Erinn Maynard (New London), junior v (Marysville), sophomores Aubrey Baumler (Huron), Maria Simon (Santa Cruz, BOLIVIA / Santa Cruz Cooperative School) and Rachael Sladky (North Olmsted) and freshman Mary Fraley (Cleveland/Mayfield).

Maynard led the individuals with a round of 91 closely followed by Simon with a career-best tying 92.  Sladky posted a round of 94.  Baumler tallied a round of 117 and Fraley had a 133.

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 6 when it travels to Hudson to compete in the John Carroll University Spring Shootout at the Country Club of Hudson.
