Schatschneider Co-Medalist as Women’s Golf Finishes Third at John Carroll Fall Invitational

HUDSON, Ohio -- Junior Anna Schatschneider (Avon) was the co-medalist in her Baldwin Wallace University debut to lead the women's golf team to a third place finish at the two-day John Carroll University Fall Invitational at the Country Club of Hudson. 

BW, who returned to action for the first time in two weeks, was third of three teams with 736 strokes on the par-73 and 5,944 Hudson layout.  The University of Mount Union was the champion with 675 strokes and host John Carroll was the runner-up with 702 strokes.

Schatschneider, who transferred this year from NCAA Division II Ashland, fired two identical rounds of 82 for a total of 164 to share medalist honors with Sara Beckwith of John Carroll.

In addition to Schatschneider for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore Rachael Sladky (North Olmsted) fired identical rounds of 94 for an invitational total of 188.  Freshman Leah Metzger (Ashland) posted rounds of 97 and 93 for a two-round total of 190. Freshman Kelly Linnabary (Westerville/Central) carded identical rounds of 97 for a  two-day total of 194. Rounding out the top five was junior Emily Hunt (Marysville) as she tallied rounds of 108 and 98 for a total of 206.

Playing as individuals were senior Erinn Maynard (New London) and sophomore AMaria Simon (Santa Cruz, BOLIVIA/Santa Cruz Cooperative School).  Maynard carded rounds of 92 and 96 for an invitational total of 188.  Simon posted rounds of 113 and 105 for a total of 218.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday and Monday, September 23-24 when it travels to Meadville, Pennsylvania to compete in the Allegheny (Pa.) College Invitational at the Country Club of Meadville.
