Camarati Named OAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the Second Consecutive Week

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – For the second consecutive week and for the ninth time in her career, Baldwin Wallace University junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference right handed softball pitcher Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) has been named the OAC Pitcher of the Week.

Camarati garners her weekly honor after posting a record of 3-0 with a save and 30 strikeouts in 16.1 innings pitched.  She opened the week by throwing a complete game one-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts and four walks in a 3-1 victory over Grove City (Pa.) College.  Camarati picked up her second save of the season as she pitched two-thirds of scoreless and hitless innings with two strikeouts and one walk in a 5-4 victory over Grove City.  She closed out the week as she won both games against Capital University.  In game one, Camarati allowed one unearned run on two hits with 12 strikeouts and one walk in seven inning 2-1 victory.  She came in and pitched the final 1.2 innings and did not allow a run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk of a 4-3 nine inning victory.

On the season, Camarati leads the OAC and is tied for fifth in NCAA Division III with 125 strikeouts.  She also leads the team and is tied for fifth in the OAC in victories with six.  Camarati leads the team and is fifth in the OAC with a 2.58 earned run average (ERA) in 70.2 innings pitched.

For her career, Camarati, who is a two-time OAC Pitcher of the Year award winner, a two-time All-OAC first-team selection and a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III All-Central Region first-team selection, has appeared in 77 games with 60 starts in 386.2 innings pitched. She is the school's all-time strikeouts leader with 575 and ranks second on the school's all-time wins list with 41.  Camarati ranks fifth in school history in 43 complete games and ERA with 1.92. She also holds the school record for wins in a season with 20 victories. 

BW (9-13, 4-2 OAC) has a busy week on the diamond this week as it plays OAC doubleheaders on Tuesday, April 12 at crosstown rival John Carroll University, on Wednesday, April 13 at home against Heidelberg University and on Friday, April 15 at Otterbein University.  Tuesday and Wednesday's doubleheaders are scheduled for 3 p.m. starts with Friday's game slated for a 1 p.m. Good Friday start.
