Softball Drops OAC Doubleheader at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team lost a road Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader against Wilmington College on the Wilmington Softball Field.

Wilmington (10-16, 2-10 OAC) won the opener by a final of 2-1 and took the second game by a final score of 6-1.

In game one, BW (9-17, 2-8 OAC) scored one run on five hits it plated its lone run in the fifth inning.   The Quakers scored two runs on 11 hits as it tallied one run in the fifth and scored the game-winning run in the sixth. 

Junior All-OAC second baseman DJ Rogers (Warren/Champion), sophomore left fielder Lena Kortis (Massillon/Perry), freshman shortstop Erica English (North Olmsted), freshman center fielder Abbie Thompson (Madison) and freshman first baseman Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) all had a base hit.  Thompson also had her second career run batted-in (RBI).

In the circle, junior Academic All-OAC pitcher Erica Morgan (Brook Park/Midpark) took the loss as she allowed two runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts.

In game two, the Yellow Jackets scored one run on five hits as they plated their lone run in the third inning.   Wilmington scored six runs on 10 hits as it tallied two runs in the second, one in the third and three in the fifth.

The BW offense was led by Rogers as she went 2-for-3.  Boledovic, Thompson, and sophomore designated player Nicole Fletterick (Columbia Station/Olmsted Falls) each had a base knock.

In the circle, Morgan suffered the loss and she allowed six runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday, April 17 when they travels to Tiffin for a rescheduled OAC doubleheader against Heidelberg University on Frann's Field at 1 p.m.  The doubleheader was originally scheduled for last Tuesday but was postponed due to weather.  BW returns home on Wednesday, April 20 when it hosts an OAC doubleheader against Ohio Northern on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 3 p.m.
