Dostall Earns Second Straight OAC Softball Pitcher of the Week Honor

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior pitcher Samantha Dostall (Oberlin/Firelands) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for the second straight week.

Dostall, who earned her first career OAC weekly honor a week ago, garnered her second honor for posting a record of 2-1 in four appearances in the Yellow Jackets final seven games at the annual Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida.

In her four games, she had an earned run average (ERA) of 1.38 and just allowed four runs, including three-scoreless innings of relief.   Dostall pitched two shutout victories against Farmingdale State (N.Y.) College (5-0) and Beloit (Wis.) College (4-0) to end her spring break trip.  She recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts in the win versus Farmingdale State with just one walk.  Dostall gave up just one hit in the victory against Beloit.  She won both of BW's games against Beloit and allowed just one hit, including throwing a no-hitter in the first meeting.Dostall gave up just one extra base hit (a double) in her final two victories.

This season, Dostall has a record of 3-2 with a 1.60 ERA in 39.1 innings of action.  She has allowed 10 runs (nine earned) on 27 hits with 34 strikeouts and 11 walks. 

Dostall has a career record of 16-16 with a 3.64 ERA in 198 innings of action.  She has allowed 128 runs (103 earned) on 222 hits with 135 strikeouts. Dostall has two career no-hitters, including one in her first game of the season. 

BW is back in action on Friday, March 25 when it travels to Alliance to open OAC play with a doubleheader against the University of Mount Union at 1 p.m.  The first home contest is scheduled for Thursday, March 31 when the team hosts Hiram College for a non-conference doubleheader on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 3:30 p.m.
