BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team celebrated Senior's Day where they defeated Wabash (Ind.) College in straight sets in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
Before the game, the men's volleyball program congratulated senior student-athletes All-MCVL outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard/Darby), Academic All-MCVL outside hitter Nick Irelan (London/Olentangy Liberty), All-MCVL setter Brandon Long (Hinckley/Metea Valley [Ill.]), Academic All-MCVL right-side hitter Nick Mazzone (Springboro/Bishop Fenwick), and Academic All-MCVL libero Payton Reed (Hilliard/Darby) on completing their outstanding volleyball careers at BW.
BW Leaders (13-12, 7-1 MCVL)
- Mazzone tied a game-high 11 kills and added one solo block and one block assist in only his second match of the year and his last in front of the home crowd
- Reed tallied seven digs and added one assist in all three sets for the Brown and Gold
- Beard finished with seven kills, three assists, six digs, and a solo block
- Irelan also grabbed 11 kills and added five digs
- Long recorded 34 assists after having 35 just a night ago and added a team-high nine digs
Wabash Leaders (14-10, 2-5 MCVL)
- Freshman libero Christopher Board had a game-high 13 digs
- Senior outside hitter Luke Davis and senior libero Julian Alvizo led the team in assists with 12 and 11, respectively
- Freshman outside hitter Bawibawi Thang led the Little Giants with seven kills
