Men's Volleyball Stings Olivet (Mich.)

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team defeated the University of Olivet (Mich.) by a score of 3-0 in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW Leaders (8-8, 2-0 MCVL)

  • Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard/Darby) was the game-leader in kills with 12 and also recorded five digs
  • Freshman libero Jack Sullenberger (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) led the Brown and Gold defense with a career-high nine digs and also added a career-high two assists
  • Freshman outside hitter Owen Huynh (Loveland) finished with four block assists and 10 kills
  • Senior All-MCVL setter Brandon Long (Hinckley/Metea Valley [Ill.]) led all players with 32 assists
  • Freshman outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) also tallied nine kills
  • Junior middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) had a career-high seven block assists while adding five kills
  • Latham, Huynh, and junior Academic All-MCVL outside hitter Marquis Kelly (Surprise, Ariz./Willow Canyon) each served up three aces
  • The Yellow Jackets hit a season-best .375 on 80 total attempts

Olivet Leaders (4-17, 0-2 MCVL)

  • Senior middle hitter Quinn Dickerson led the Comets with 10 kills
  • Senior outside hitter Kai Hartman tallied 16 assists
  • Senior libero Deontay Thomas recorded 10 digs

  • BW led in kills 13-6
  • Yellow Jackets hit .345
  • Comets hit -.080

  • BW led in kills 16-8

BW is back in action on Thursday, March 7 as it travels to Thousand Oaks, Calif. to compete in the first day of the CLU Invitational hosted by California Lutheran University. The Yellow Jackets will take on host No. 6 nationally ranked Cal Lutheran at 9 p.m. inside Gilbert Arena.
