Men's Volleyball Takes Four-Set Match Against Calvin (Mich.)

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team defeated Calvin (Mich.) University by a score of 3-1 in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match in Van Noord Arena.

BW Leaders (10-12, 4-1 MCVL)

  • Freshman libero Jack Sullenberger (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) dug out a new career-high 12 attacks and added a career-high five assists
  • Junior All-MCVL right-side hitter Michael Devlin (Zelienople/Seneca Valley) finished with a statline of eight kills, two aces, three digs, and one block assist
  • Junior middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) added a career-high nine kills on a hitting percentage of .727 with two block assists
  • Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard/Darby) had 11 kills for his seventh straight 10+ kill game and his 12th of the last 13 
  • Sophomore middle hitter Colby Whiteside (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) also added eight kills along with two block assists and the Brown and Gold's only solo block
  • Senior All-MCVL setter Brandon Long (Hinckley/Metea Valley [Ill.]) tallied 38 assists and is now second in the MCVL in assists per set with 9.60

Calvin Leaders (4-16, 1-3 MCVL)

  • Freshman right-side hitter Brady Gudauskas led all players with 13 kills
  • Freshman setter Cameron Dogger assisted 26 times
  • Sophomore libero Parker Steele finished with a game-high 13 digs

  • BW led in kills 14-8
  • Yellow Jackets hit .300
  • Knights hit .154

Second Set (Calvin 25-21)

  • BW led in kills 10-9
  • Yellow Jackets hit .138
  • Knights hit .138

Third Set (BW 25-18)

  • BW led in kills 14-8
  • Yellow Jackets hit .462
  • Knights hit .167

Fourth Set (BW 25-21)

  • BW led in kills 11-8
  • Yellow Jackets hit .148
  • Knights hit .115

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow Saturday, March 23 when they travel to Angola, Ind. to take on Trine (Ind.) University in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League matchup at 1 p.m. in Hershey Hall.
