Three Men's Soccer Players Named to All-OAC Team

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team placed three players on the 2008 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team announced today (Wednesday, November 12, 2008). Junior defender Cory Weidner (Rocky River),  junior midfielder Andy Synk (Strongsville) and freshman forward Carlin Vandendriessche (Medina/Senior) each were named to the second-team.

Weidner scored three times in 2008 with each goal serving as a game-winner.  He also helped lead the Yellow Jacket defense to four shutouts and a 1.28 goals-against-average  this fall.

Synk, also a second-team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV pick, finished third on the squad with 13 points and totaled a team and OAC-best nine assists this season. He also led the OAC with 0.53 assists per game.

Vandendriessche made an immediate impact during his freshman season by scoring a team-high nine goals. He also had an assist, a team-high 19 points scored and tied Weidner for the team lead with three game-winners . Vandendriessche also was seventh in the conference in goals per game (0.47).

B-W finished the season with a 12-6-1 overall mark for its fifth straight winning season and won 2008 team titles at the Penn State Behrend (Pa.) College Tournament.
