ACADEMIC MAJOR:   Communications

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Sam Groff played his second season of football at Baldwin Wallace University in 2015-2016. He earned his first varsity letter and was BW's leading tackler. Sam also plans to wrestle during the winter season.

GENERAL FOOTBALL INFORMATION:  As a freshman in 2013, Sam played in his first season of football and received a certificate of participation. He split time between the varsity and junior varsity teams at linebacker. BW finished 6-4 overall. 

As a sophomore in 2014-2015, Sam did not play football.

As a red-shirt sophomore in 2015-2016, Sam played his second season of football and earned his first varsity letter. He started at outside linebacker and led the team with 76 tackles in nine games (missed one due to an injury). He had 32 solo tackles, five tackles for loss with two quarterback sacks, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery. BW finished 7-3 overall.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION:  Sam grew up in Waynesville, Ohio and graduated from Sandy Valley High School.

Sam played football, wrestled and ran track all four years. He earned four varsity letters in football, wrestling, and track. 

Sam was a two-time All-Stark County pick in football, two-time All-State (OHSAA State Tournament placer) in wrestling, and an OHSAA Regional qualifier for in the shot put and discus in track.

FAMILY CONNECTION:   Sam's father, John Groff, was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference player for the Yellow Jackets.
