Brock Riemenschneider’s Hat Trick Lifts BW Past Oberlin

BEREA, Ohio – Sophomore attack Brock Riemenschneider (Rocky River) scored three goals and led the Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse to a 12-3 victory over non-conference foe Oberlin College on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium this evening.  

Along with Riemenschneider, defensively junior Josiah Greve (Milford) had a season-high five caused turnovers and added a career-high eight ground balls. In net, sophomore goalkeeper Mike Dizonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) improved to 5-0 and made nine saves for the Yellow Jackets (5-0).  

Oberlin (1-3) was led by senior goalkeeper Josh Kasten with a game-high 12 saves.

In the first quarter BW jumped to an early 3-0 lead when junior midfielder Shane Rakich (Dublin / Olentangy Liberty) netted his fourth goal of the season with 3:43 left in the first. The Yeowmen scored one goal late in the first when Nick Lobley got one past the Yellow Jackets goalkeeper.  

In the second quarter the Yellow Jackets outscored Oberlin 3-2. For the Yellow Jackets freshman attack Chad Steinwachs (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville North), Riemenschneider scored his first goal of the game, and freshman midfielder Alex Juhasz (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster Central) to make the score 6-3 at halftime.

In the second half BW scored six unanswered goals to hold on for the victory. Riemenschneider scored two goals in the second half, Rakich, sophomore attack Alex Binner (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville North),  freshman midfielder Thomas Moesch (Ithaca, N.Y.), and junior midfielder Tanner Roberts (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) all added goals.

The Yellow Jackets travel to Alfred, New York on Saturday, March 19 to square off against Alfred University in a non-conference game on Merrill Field inside Yunevich Stadium at 1 p.m.
