Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Mount Union to Remain Unbeaten at Home

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team defeated the University of Mount Union 10-2 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium. 

BW (12-1, 4-0 OAC) was led by sophomore attack Alex Binner (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville North) who recorded his second career hat-trick with three goals. Along with Binner, sophomore attack Derek Andrews (Alden, N.Y. / Iroquois) scored two goals and added two assists for four points. Defensively junior defender Michael Dickey (Rocky River) caused five turnovers and picked up three ground balls.

Mount Union (9-3, 4-1 OAC) was led by senior goalkeeper Colin Peters who made a game-high 18 saves.

The Yellow Jackets scored the only six goals of the first half to take a 6-0 lead into the locker room. Binner led the way with two goals, junior Shane Rakich (Dublin / Olentangy Liberty), sophomore attack Brock Riemenschneider (Rocky River), Andrews, and freshman midfielder Chad Steinwachs (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville North) also scored for BW in the first half.

BW went on a 4-0 run to extend its lead to 10-0 when Binner completed the hat-trick with 9:48 left in the fourth quarter. The Raiders scored the final two goals of the game, but the Yellow Jackets held on for the victory.

All-OAC sophomore goalkeeper Mike Dizonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Stevenson) made three saves and picked up his 12th win of the season.  

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they host Ohio Northern University on Saturday, April 23 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 8 p.m.
