Men’s Lacrosse Remains Undefeated in OAC Play at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team defeated Otterbein University 10-7 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game inside Memorial Stadium.

BW (11-1, 3-0 OAC) was led by freshman midfielder Jon Mays (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville East) who scored a career-high two goals and freshman midfielder Thomas Moesch (Ithaca, N.Y. / Ithaca) who scored a career-high tying two goals.

Otterbein (8-5, 2-1 OAC) was led by sophomore attack Connor Dziewit and junior attack Nick Tholt who each scored two goals.

In the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets took an early 1-0 lead when Mays scored an unassisted goal at 12:37. The Cardinals answered back with two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 lead with both goals coming from Dziewit. BW closed out the quarter by going on 2-0 run to give them a 3-2 lead with goals coming from junior midfielder Jarrod Gilliam (Lewis Center / Olentangy Orange) via an assist from freshman midfielder Chad Steinwachs (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville North) and sophomore attack Alex Binner (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville North) via an assist from sophomore attack Brock Riemenschneider (Rocky River).

The Yellow Jackets opened the second quarter by going on a 3-0 run with goals from sophomore attack Derek Andrews (Alden, N.Y. / Iroquois), Brock Riemenschneider and sophomore midfielder Alex Juhasz (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster Central) with the last coming at 10:26 to increase their lead to 6-2. Each team scored one goal to close out the half with BW's goal coming from Moesch via an assist from sophomore midfielder Jack Gerlack (Rocky River).

In the third quarter, Otterbein outscored the Yellow Jackets 3-1 to cut the deficit down to 8-7.

In the final quarter, BW outscored the Cardinals 2-1 with goals from Moesch and Mays who both scored their second goals of the game.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Dizonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Stevenson) made four saves and improved to 11-1 on the season.
