Today's Game --  For the fourth straight season, the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jacket football team opens its season against the Bluffton University Beavers in its only nonleague game of the season. 

Series Notes --  The Yellow Jackets and Beavers have met five times on the gridiron with BW winning all five games. BW beat the Beavers 26-0 in 1933 in Bluffton, triumphed 34-0 in 1934 in Berea, won 45-13 in Berea in 2012 and 52-21 a year ago in Bluffton.  BW has outscored the Beavers, 189-54, including 129-54 the past three years.  

Last Meeting -- The last time BW and Bluffton met on September 14, 2014,  the Yellow Jackets defeated the Beavers by a final score of 32-20.  BW led 12-0 after one quarter and 19-0 at halftime. In the third stanza, Bluffton cut the lead to 19-7. The Yellow Jackets outgained the Beavers, 454-258, including gaining 217 yards on the ground.

Scouting The Yellow Jackets
BW returns 21 lettermen and 11 starters from last year's team that finished 5-5 overall. Offensively, the Yellow Jackets averaged 28.5 points and 355.1 yards of total offense per game, including 170.4 rushing and 184.7 passing yards.  Defensively, the Yellow Jackets return six starters to a squad that allowed 30.4 points and 403.9 yards of total offense per game, including 186.4 rushing and 217.5 passing yards

Scouting The Beavers
In week one of the season, the Beavers scored 10 points on 184 yards rushing, 191 yards passing and 375 total yards. Wilmington, who snapped a 23-game losing streak, scored the game-winning touchdown with 1:00 minute remaining.  The Quakers scored 14 points a point on 130 yards rushing, 211 yards passing and 341 total yards. 

Beaver Statistical Leaders
Offensively, sophomore QB Colby Spiece completed 8 of 16 passes for 108 yards with one TD and two interceptions. He also ran for 45 yards on five attempts. Junior QB Connor Sheehan completed 7 of 17 passes for 83 yards with an interception. He also gained nine yards on four rushing attempts. Junior WR Micah Roberson had nine catches for 88 yards, including a four-yard TD. Senior RB Devante Thomas-Wright had 59 yards on 19 attempts.

Defensivley,  sophomore linebacker Gio Spadaro led the team with six tackles and added a forced fumble and pass breakup.   Senior defensive lineman Ryan Aelker had five tackles and the team's lone sack.   Five other Blufflton players recorded four tackles.
