Football Announces 2016 Summer Camp Schedule

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University football team is pleased to announce its 2016 summer camp schedule that will feature four separate camps in May, June and July to be hosted on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

Coming off a successful 2015 season campaign that saw that Yellow Jackets finish with an overall record of 7-3 and a 7-2 Ohio Athletic Conference slate, 14-year Veteran Head Coach John Snell and his coaching staff are looking forward to hosting many talented prospects on the BW campus through the summer. 

The camp season kicks off on Thursday, May 19 when BW hosts its Elite Prospect Camp.  The camp is open to 2017 and 2018 high school graduates, who are looking for high level instruction in preparation for the fall season.  Camp participants will participate in speed and skill development, as well as structured competition periods with the entire Baldwin Wallace University coaching staff.

On Thursday, June 9, BW along with Akron University and Purdue University will host the Northeast Ohio Showcase Camp.  This camp will give high school student-athletes (2017 – 2020) from Northeast Ohio an opportunity to work with a featured staff from the Big Ten in Purdue Head Coach Darrell Hazell and his staff as well as the BW and Akron staffs. Campers will compete against each other in one-on-one drills allowing each participant the opportunity to transfer individual skills taught throughout the camp to in to game situations.

The camp season continues on Wednesday, June 22 when BW will its annual Big Man Camp in conjunction with one of it two 7-vs-7 tournaments.  Yellow Jacket Offensive Coordinator Ryan Crow and Defensive Coordinator Jim Meyer will work with offensive and defensive linemen to improve their craft and skill development.  

BW closes out its summer camp schedule as it hosts its Skill Position Camp on Friday, July 15.  Yellow Jacket Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Steve Opgenorth will work with high school student-athletes on skill position development on both sides of the football. Emphasis will be made on one-on-one competitive situations, two-vs-three drills, involving schematic implementation for quarterbacks and wide receivers.  The camo will also feature the second and final 7-vs-7 tournament.
