BOSTON – Baldwin Wallace University junior distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) earned the second All-American honor of her career when she placed eighth in the 800-meter run at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships, hosted at the Reggie Lewis Center.
Brennan finished eighth in a time of 2:17.73 for her second career All-America honor. To qualify for the finals, the junior won her heat in a school-record time of 2:13.81, which was the second-fastest time in the preliminaries. The top two finishers in each heat plus the next two fastest times advanced to the finals. Brennan came into the national meet ranked 10th in the event. During the 2018 outdoor season, she garnered the first All-American accolade of her career with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run.
This indoor season, Brennan broke three separate school records for a total of five different times, including the 800 and the 5,000-meter runs twice. The junior was also named OAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week in back-to-back weeks and earned her fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh career United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor All-Great Lakes Region accolades.
Brennan and the rest of the Yellow Jackets will begin the outdoor season on Saturday, March 16, at the Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Early Bird at the William Welch Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana.
