BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2011-12 season as they defeated Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington College today (Saturday, October 29, 2011) in the B-W Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.

The Yellow Jacket women beat Wilmington, 126-101.

The B-W women were led by four-time NCAA Division III All-American junior diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) who won the 1-meter optional event with 272.70 points and captured the 1-meter voluntary event with 186.90 points.

In addition to Pinter, sophomores Angela Musille (Canton/ GlenOak), Emma Gerdes (Avon) and junior Kelsey Richards (Wadsworth). Musille won the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:33.74, the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:10.62, and was a part of the first place 200 yard medley relay that finished with a time of 1:57.69. The winning 200 yard medley relay team included Musille, Gerdes, sophomore Caitlin Wilson (Wycombe, Pa./ Council Rock North), and freshman Kayla Eyster (Canton, Mich./ Plymouth-Canton). Along with the Relay, Gerdes placed first in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:04.50. Richards finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.58. She also was a part of the first place finishing 200 yard freestyle team that also included sophomore Amelia Kopinsky (Seville/ Cloverleaf), senior Danielle Miller (Van Wert), and freshman Carli Dugan (Mentor).

The Yellow Jackets next compete on Saturday, November 5 when they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania for a dual meet at Penn State Behrend at 1:00 p.m. The next home meet is on Saturday, Nov. 12 when B-W hosts Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College in the B-W Natatorium at 4:00 p.m.
