The Yellow Jackets, now 9-7 overall and 2-0 in the OAC, received a pin from senior 174-pounder Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/ Woodridge) and major decisions from senior 133-pounder Phil Payne (Woodmere/ Orange), 19-5 and senior 165-pounder Korey Leonhard (Kinsman/ Pymatuning Valley), 11-3. Wilmington is now 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the OAC.
In addition to Payne, Leonhard and Scavuzzo, 184-pounder Joe Georgian (Eastlake/ Villa Angela-St. Joseph) and 197-pounder Tristan Stoll (Milan/ Edison) each won by forfeit to secure the win for BW.
The BW grapplers are back in action next Tuesday, February 1 when BW hosts Muskingum University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m. That match will be taped and televised by SportsTime Ohio on Feb. 2 at 12:00 noon and again on Feb. 3 at both 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Fans also are reminded that the 25th Annual John Summa Memorial Tournament is on Saturday, Feb. 5 in the Fieldhouse of the Lou Higgins Center.
