DANVILLE, Ky. - The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team earned a non-conference road victory against Centre (Ky.) College by a final score of 13-7 on the South Campus Turf Field.

BW (2-0) remained undefeated in 2020, as it secured its third straight victory against Centre (0-3), improving its all-time mark against the Colonels to 3-0. This also is marks the second consecutive year that the Yellow Jackets have begun their season with two wins in a row.

The BW offense was led by junior attacker Alexis O'Neill (Westlake) and junior midfielder Maddie Ray (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron Reserve), who both scored a team-high four points, with O'Neill garnering three goals and one assist, and Ray notching one goal and three assists. The Yellow Jackets also received multi-goal contributions from senior All-OAC attacker Brie Martineau (Strongsville), senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC defender Hannah Stein (Medina/Highland), and freshman midfielder Nagi Reed (Bluffton, S.C.), who all netted two goals apiece in the victory.

Making her second consecutive start to begin the campaign was BW junior goalkeeper Ashleigh Hildreth (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home), who made 11 saves on 18 total shots to improve her record to a perfect 2-0 on the year.

Continuing where she left off in her stellar season opener, BW's Martineau got the game started with her fifth goal of the young season to put BW up 1-0 just 1:10 into the game. The Colonels responded with back-to-back goals to gain the lead, but the Yellow Jackets answered back with two consecutive goals of their own from O'Neill. Centre was able to score another pair of goals in less than a minute to regain its one-score advantage. The two squads then split a goal apiece to end the first half, as the BW trailed by one headed to the break.

The Yellow Jackets came out storming in the second half, potting three stright goals in the period's first 44 seconds, which included O'Neill's third of the contest. Their run then ballooned to six consecutive goals, with BW controlling a sizeable four-score cushion with 10:45 remaining in regulation. With a subtle exchange of offense to close the game between the two adversaries, highlighted by Reed's second of her first two collegiate goals, the Yellow Jackets were able to ride out the clock and earn the convincing victory.

BW returns to the field on Saturday, February 29 when it hosts the College of Wooster for a non-conference matchup in George Finnie Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
