Shoger Announces 2020 Women's Lacrosse Team Captains

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Nicholle Shoger has announced that senior attacker Brie Martineau (Strongsville), senior defender Hannah Stein (Medina/Highland), and senior midfielder Jordan Paugh (South Lyon, Mich.) have been named as team captains for the 2020 season.

"Our program is extremely honored to have these three named as captains for the 2020 season," Shoger began. "All three of them are huge contributors on and off the field to the success of our program. We are looking to them to help lead this program to bigger and better accomplishments this year."

Martineau, a three-year letterwinner and two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, has appeared in 38 career games with 28 starts, scoring 82 goals and 30 assists for 112 points. Last season, Martineau led the team with career-highs of 43 goals, 65 points, and 74 shots on goal, and was second on the squad with a career-best 22 assists. Off the field, she is a chemistry major.

Stein, a three-year letterwinner, three-time All-OAC selection, and reigning OAC Defensive Player of the Year, has appeared in 45 career games with 44 starts, scoring 38 goals and nine assists for 47 points. Last season, Stein led the team with career-highs of 40 caused turnovers and 94 draw controls, and was second on the squad with a career-best 54 ground balls. Stein also added four goals and two assists for six points, including 13 shots on goal in 2019. Off the field, she is a two-time Academic All-OAC selection, international business major, Dean's List student, and Jacket Scholar.

Paugh, a three-year letterwinner, has appeared in 44 career games with 33 starts, scoring 20 goals and 10 assists for 30 points. Last season, Paugh recorded three goals and three assists for six points, including seven shots on goal. Paugh also garnered 19 ground balls, and 12 caused turnovers in 2019. Off the field, she is a biology and neuroscience double major.

BW will begin its 2020 season with its home opener on Wednesday, February 19, as the Yellow Jackets host Ohio Wesleyan University for a non-conference matchup at 7:00 p.m. in George Finnie Stadium.
