BEREA, Ohio - As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the nation and the world, the Baldwin Wallace University Athletic Department and women's lacrosse team want to take the time to recognize the hard work and dedication of its six senior student-athletes.
Erika Davidson, Savanna Jaekle, Brie Martineau, Jordan Paugh, Ireland Flores Rae, and Hannah Stein saw their final season come to an abrupt end on March 11 when the Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA canceled the remainder of the spring season and in doing so, the Senior Day recognition they deserved.
While the NCAA has extended another year of eligibility, it is uncertain if each of these student-athlete will come back for another season or continue down their career path. So, the University administration, faculty and staff congratulates these six young women on their outstanding athletic and academic careers as well as their leadership to the women's lacrosse program. The University would like to wish each of them all the best of luck in their future endeavors and hope that even after graduation that they come back and visit us often. They will always be a Yellow Jacket for Life (YJ4L).
Davidson is a chemistry major from East Aurora, New York and a graduate of East Aurora High School. The senior defender will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring. Davidson has appeared in 43 games for the Yellow Jackets, including 30 starts. She wraps up her career with one goal, one point, 41 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Her most successful campaign came in 2018, where she compiled career-best totals of 23 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Davidson is a two-time Academic All-OAC selection that owns a 3.839 grade point average. She is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and the daughter of Bruce and Anna Davidson.
Jaekle is a sport management major from Lockport, New York and a graduate of Lockport High School. The senior midfielder will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring. Jaekle has appeared in 47 career games for the Yellow Jackets, including 38 starts. She wraps up her career with 53 goals, 17 assists, and 70 points. Jaekle's most successful campaign came in 2018, where she attained career-best totals across the board with 24 goals, 11 assists, 35 points, and 43 shots on goal, to go along with 27 ground balls, 20 draw controls, and 13 caused tunovers. She is the daughter of Mark and Krista Jaekle.
Martineau is a chemistry major from Strongsville, Ohio and a graduate of Strongsville High School. She is one of three 2020 team co-captains and a two-time All-OAC attacker that will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring. Martineau has appeared in 45 career games for BW, including 35 starts. She wraps up her career with 100 goals, 35 assists, and 135 points, finishing fifth, fourth, and fifth on the program's all-time leaderboards, respectively. Martineau also appears at the seventh spot for draw controls with 74 for her career, in addition to 60 ground balls and 115 caused turnovers. Her most successful campaign came in 2019, where she garnered career-best totals across the board with a team-leading 43 goals, 22 assists, 65 points, and 74 shots on goal, to go along with 25 ground balls, 50 draw controls, and 11 caused turnovers. She is the daughter of Thomas and Janet Martineau.
Paugh is a biology and neuroscience double major from South Lyon, Michigan and a graduate of South Lyon High School. She is one of three 2020 team co-captains and will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring. Paugh has appeared in 51 career games for the Yellow Jackets, including 40 starts. The senior midfielder wraps up her career with 24 goals, 11 assists, and 35 points. Paugh appears at the eighth spot on the program's all-time career leaderboards for both draw controls and caused turnovers with 63 and 43, respectively, in addition to 81 career ground balls. Her most successful campaign came in 2018, where she amassed career-best totals across the board with 14 goals, seven assists, 21 points, and 32 shots on goal, to go along with 36 ground balls, 35 draw controls, and 16 caused turnovers. She is a Dean's List student that holds a 3.534 grade point average, and is the daughter of Theron and Nina Paugh.
Rae is a public health major from Sylvania, Ohio and a graduate of St. Ursula Academy. The early-completion junior will earn her third varsity letter this spring. Rae has appeared in 20 career games for BW, including four starts. She wraps up her three-year career with three six ground balls and three caused turnovers. Rae is an Academic All-OAC selection that boasts a 3.669 grade point average. She is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and the daughter of Robert and Cynthia Rae.
Stein is an international business and finance double major from Medina, Ohio and a graduate of Highland High School. She is one of three 2020 team co-captains and a three-time All-OAC defender that will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring. Stein has appeared in 52 career games for BW, including 51 starts. She wraps up her career with 43 goals, 10 assists, and 53 points. Stein is the program's all-time career leader in draw controls with 229, and appears at the sixth and fourth spot on the career ground balls and caused turnovers leaderboards with 114 and 82, respectively. In addition to her career draw controls mark, Stein is also in sole possession of three other program records, which includes 8 caused turnovers in a game, 13 draw controls in a game (occurred three times), and 94 draw controls in a season. Her best offensive season came in 2018 where she recorded career-bests of 30 goals, four assists, 34 points, and 39 shots on goal, whereas her best defensive season came in 2019 when she collected career-bests of 54 ground balls, 94 ground balls, and 40 caused turnovers on route to being named the OAC's Defensive Player of the Year and earning her first Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Great Lakes Region first-team selection. Stein is a two-time Academic All-OAC selection that carries a 3.99 grade point average. She is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries, and the daughter of Tim and Jenny Stein.
