AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – After taking a trip to last year's Ohio Athletic Conference championship game, the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team was chosen second in the 2018 OAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Picked third a season ago, BW finished second of nine teams with 52 total points. The University of Mount Union, the four-time defending OAC champions, finished atop the poll with 64 points and eight first place votes. Rounding out the voting was John Carroll University in third, Capital University in fourth and Otterbein University in fifth.

"I am very excited to see us being recognized as a top competitor in the OAC," first year head coach Nicholle St. Pierre stated. "We have been working tirelessly this preseason and are ready to take on the 2018 schedule."

St. Pierre, who is in her first season in Berea and her fourth overall year as a head coach, returns 11 letterwinners and four All-OAC players from last year's squad that finished with a 13-4 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the conference, advancing to the program's third OAC championship game in four years.

BW opens the 2018 season when the Yellow Jackets travel to Oberlin for a non-conference game with Oberlin College on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. in the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex. OAC play opens up on Saturday, March 24, when BW travels to New Concord to take on Muskingum University.
