NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior attack Caitlin Wheeler (Lake Mills, Wis./Oak Park-River Forest {Ill.}) scored her 100th career goal in the women's lacrosse team's 18-4 Ohio Athletic Conference opening victory over Muskingum University at the North Athletic Field.

After her first two shots were saved and hit the post, Wheeler stepped to the 8-meter arc for a free position shot and sank her 100th goal deep into the net to give BW a 4-0 lead at the 12:44 mark.

Sophomore midfielder Savanna Jaekle (Lockport, N.Y.) led BW (3-4, 1-0 OAC) with four goals. Wheeler and junior All-OAC attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown/Green) each added three goals while junior attack Mackenzie Moran (Carlisle, Pa.), sophomore midfielder Jordan Paugh (South Lyon, Mich.) and freshman defender/midfielder Christina Roskoph (Strongsville) chipped in two goals apiece.

Senior midfielder Ashley Adams led Muskingum (2-6, 0-1 OAC) with two goals as she was the only multi-goal scorer for the Fighting Muskies.

BW got off to a quick start with goals from sophomore All-OAC midfielder Hannah Stein (Medina/Highland) and Moran in the first two minutes. The offense then stalled for over 10 minutes but the Yellow Jackets were still able to continue a 4-0 run that was capped off by Wheeler's 100th goal. Muskingum put a stop with its first goal at the 11:52 mark but BW was able to rattle off four more goals spanning the rest of the first half and into the beginning of the second half.

The offense was hot to start the second half as Jaekle scored two consecutive goals to kick-start another 4-0 run for BW. After Muskingum's third goal, the Yellow Jackets finished off the game on a 6-0 run but the Fighting Muskies scored one last time in the final seconds.

BW will have a quick turnaround when the Yellow Jackets travel to take on Denison University in non-conference action on Sunday, March 25, at 3 p.m. inside Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
