BW Women Golfers Tied for Fifth After First Day at Olivet

MARSHALL, MICHIGAN – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team opened the 2013-14 season and stands tied for fifth place after the first round of the Labor Day Tee Off hosted by Olivet College at the Medalist Golf Club on Saturday.  The final round will take place tomorrow, September 1 at 9 a.m.  

The Yellow Jackets, who totaled 343 strokes on the par-72, 5,834-yard Medalist layout, are tied for fifth of eight teams with Illinois Wesleyan College.  Washington (Mo.) University is in first place followed by Olivet, St. Mary's (Ind.) College and Wittenberg University

BW was led by All-Ohio Athletic Conference seniors Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/Dayton Christian) and Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/Darby) who each carded an 81 in the first round.

Cunningham and Jones were followed by All-OAC senior Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) who fired an 88 in the opening round and sophomore Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/South) was fourth on the day as she shot a round of 93.  Rounding out the five Yellow Jacket golfers was freshman Olivia Pacheco (Canfield) who shot an 110 in her first collegiate round of golf.

BW is back in action next Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8 when it travels to Granville to compete at the Denison University Tournament at the Granville Golf Course.
