HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Florida -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team stands 17th of 21 teams after the opening round of the four-day and 72-hole 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships at the Mission Inn & Resort.

Rhodes (Tenn.) College is the clubhouse leader with a round of 311 followed by 25-time champion Methodist (N.C.) College with a 311.  Defending champion University of Mary-Hardin Baylor was third with a 325, Ithaca (N.Y.) College was fourth with a 326 and 2013 Runner-up University of Texas-Tyler rounded out the top five with a 327.

The Yellow Jackets carded a round of 365 strokes today on the par-72 and 5,844-yard El Campéon course.  The second round is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 14 with the first BW tee time at 1:05 p.m. and the last Yellow Jacket going off at 1:45 p.m.

Senior four-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Miranda Cunningham (Brookville/Dayton Christian) led the BW squad with an opening 87.   Senior four-time All-OAC player Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) was two shots behind Cunningham with a first day 89.   Senior four-time All-OAC player Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/Darby) had a round of 94 and sophomore All-OAC selection Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/South) was right behind Jones with a 95.   Junior Jenna Andreas (Pickerington/North) rounded out the Yellow Jacket scorecard with a 121.

The BW women are making their fifth appearance at the NCAA Div. III national tournament since the program began in 2000.
