Yellow Jackets 17th After Two Rounds of NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, Third Round Suspended

HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Florida -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team remains in 17th place of 21 teams after the two rounds of the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships at the Mission Inn & Resort. 

The second round was completed on Thursday morning after two thunder delays and darkness forced the suspension of the round on Wednesday.  Thursday's third round was also delayed by thunder in the area and caused for a suspension of play due to darkness for the second straight day.  The Yellow Jackets played nine holes before the round was halted.  The third round will resume on Friday morning.

Rhodes (Tenn.) College remains the clubhouse leader with a two-round total of 634 followed 2013 Runner-up University of Texas-Tyler with a two-day total of 639.  Defending champion University of Mary-Hardin Baylor is third with a 641 after two days and Washington (Mo.) University is fourth with a 646.  Ithaca (N.Y.) College is fifth each with a total of 650.

The Yellow Jackets carded a round of 372 strokes in the second round and have a 737 two-day total on the par-72 and 5,844-yard El Campéon course.  The second round is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 14

On day two, senior four-time All-OAC player Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) shot the low round for BW as she carded an 87 for a two-round total of 176.  Senior four-time All-OAC player Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/Darby) shot a 93 and now has a two-round total of 187. Senior four-time All-OAC player Miranda Cunningham (Brookville/Dayton Christian) had a 94 and now sits with a total of 181. Sophomore All-OAC selection Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/South) shot 98 on day two and has a two-round total of 193.   Junior Jenna Andreas (Pickerington/North) rounded out the Yellow Jacket scorecard with a 107, just one stroke off her career-best, and now has a two-day total of 228.

In the opening round, Cunningham led the BW squad with an 87.   Woolf was two shots behind Cunningham with an 89.  Jones had a round of 94 and Vidmar was a stroke behind with a 95.   Andreas had a 121.
