BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University senior guard Amanda Schroeder (Columbus Grove) was named the Women's DIII News Player of the Month for December today (Thursday, January 6, 2011). Schroeder led the Yellow Jackets in scoring in six of their seven games and helped BW to a 6-1 record during the month.
She scored 42 points, grabbed nine rebounds and collected four steals at the Transylvania (Ky.) University Classic on December 18-19. Against the host school, she scored a game-high 23 points, including 18 in the second half as the Yellow Jackets won 75-66. In the opening game, Schroeder scored a team-high 19 points in a 77-76 loss to Centre (Ky.) College. Schroeder currently leads Baldwin Wallace in scoring at 16.8 points per game.
Schroeder was also named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week twice in December. Earlier this season, she became the 12th player in Yellow Jacket women's basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point mark for her career when she scored seven points in a 56-41 win versus Alma (Mich.) College on November 19.Schroeder currently has 1,181 career points and is sixth all-time. She needs 18 more points to surpass recent BW Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame inductee Anjee Beard (1996-2000), who has 1,198 points, and move into the Top-Five all-time scorers in school history.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Saturday, Jan. 8 when they host OAC-rival Capital University in the first game of a women's and then men's doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea.
