BW Senior Amanda Schroeder is OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University senior guard Amanda Schroeder (Columbus Grove) is this week's (December 20 2010) Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, for her efforts last weekend.  This marks the fourth time in Schroeder's career, and second time this season, that she has garnered the honor.

Schroeder, a two-time first-team All-OAC player as well as an Academic All-OAC selection, earned her honor for scoring 42 points, grabbing nine rebounds, passing for two assists, have four steals and one block shot last weekend at the Transylvania (Ky.) University Classic.    On Sunday, December 19, She scored a game-high 23 points, including 18 in the second half as the Yellow Jackets defeated host Transylvania by a final score of 75-66.  In the opening game on Friday night, Schroeder scored a team-high 19 points in a 77-76 loss to Centre (Ky.) College. In the two games, she connected on 13-of-18 (.722) shots from the floor  and canned 15-of-17 (.882) foul shots, including 9-of-10 (.900) in the win on Sunday.

Schroeder's 42 points last week now gives her 1,141 career points and needs just six more to surpass former All-American and  current NACDA (National Association of College Directors of Athletics) Media Relations Director Julie Work (1995-99) to move in to seventh on the all-time Yellow Jacket scoring list.  On the horizon is former standout Holly Koepp (1999-2003) for sixth place with 1,150 points and recent Hall of Fame inductee and current Tiffin Columbian High School Women's Basketball Coach Anjee Beard (1996-2000) for fifth with 1,198 points.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Wednesday, Dec. 22 when they host OAC rival Otterbein University in the Upsprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m.
