Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Places Fifth at Home OAC Tune-Up Meet

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team placed fifth at its home Ohio Athletic Conference Tune-Up meet, hosted inside George Finnie Stadium. 

BW placed fifth of seven teams with a total of 40.5 points. Ohio Northern University won the meet with 152.5 points. 

Freshman sprinter Marcus Price (North Ridgeville) had the best result on the track for the Yellow Jackets when he finished as the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 52.02 seconds. Fellow freshman sprinter Desmond Manley (Akron/St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished fifth in the same event in a time of 53.48 seconds. Sophomore hurdler ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea Midpark) posted a time of 15.03 seconds in the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries, which was the fourth-fastest time overall. Clark then ran a career-best 14.92 seconds in the 110 hurdle finals to finish fourth. In the 800-meter run, sophomore distance runner Casey White (Mount Gilead) placed sixth in 2:06.38 and freshman distance runner Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg/Benedictine) took eighth in 2:07.44. 

In the field, freshman thrower Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) finished third in the javelin throw with a career-best mark of 170 feet, 6 inches. Junior thrower Jake Mantle (North Royalton) placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 42'4.75". 

BW will compete in the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Thursday and Friday, May 6-7, hosted by Heidelberg University inside Hoernemann Stadium.
