TIFFIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team finished fourth at the Monica Scott Invitational, hosted by Heidelberg University inside Hoernemann Stadium.
In a tightly contested meet from top to bottom, BW finished fourth of four teams with 127 points. Wilmington College won the meet with a total of 153 points.
Junior distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) turned in a career-best performance to win the 800-meter run in 1:56.21. Meanwhile, sophomore hurdler ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) claimed the Yellow Jackets' other victory on the track, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 15.09 seconds.
Additional top-three finishes came from a number of BW student-athletes. Senior distance runner Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) was the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run in a career-best time of 4:06.25. Freshman sprinter Desmond Manley (Akron/St. Vincent-St. Mary) also recorded a career-best time that led to a runner-up finish with his coming in the 400-meter dash in 52.11 seconds. Freshman sprinter Mason Birkbeck (Wadsworth) took third in the same event in a time of 54.66 seconds. Freshman sprinter Marcus Price (North Ridgeville) finished third in the 200-meter dash in a career-best 22.91 seconds.
As the only entry in the 4x100-meter relay, Birkbeck, Price, Manley and Clark ran a season-best time of 44.46 seconds to add nine points to BW's team total.
Clark also recorded an event victory in the field, winning the high jump by clearing a height of 5 feet, 8.75 inches. Freshman jumper Kai Yee (Berea/Berea-Midpark) placed third in the same event as he cleared 5'7". Junior thrower Jake Mantle (North Royalton) collected a pair of fourth-place finishes, tossing a career-best 142'6" in the hammer throw and 42'9" in the shot put. Freshman thrower Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) also finished fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 129'8".
BW will host the Ohio Athletic Conference Tune-Up on Friday, April 30, beginning at 1 p.m. inside George Finnie Stadium.
