Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Places Fifth at OAC Opener

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team placed fifth in the Ohio Athletic Conference Opener, hosted by Marietta College inside Don Drumm Stadium. 

BW finished fifth of 10 teams with a total of 72.5 points, just 0.5 points behind fourth place. Otterbein University won the meet with 139 points. 

The Yellow Jackets claimed two victories on the track, one individual event and one relay. The team of sophomore hurdler ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark), freshman sprinter Desmond Manley (Akron/St. Vincent-St. Mary), freshman sprinter Marcus Price (North Ridgeville) and junior distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) combined to win the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:41.97. Meanwhile, senior distance runner Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) turned in a career-best time of 15:30.49 to win the 5,000-meter run.  

BW had an overall strong showing in the 5k as senior distance runner Jose Reynoso (Painesville/Harvey) and sophomore distance runner Kyle White (Mount Gilead) also scored points in the event. Reynoso finished sixth in a time of 15:54.89 while White was less than a second behind him in seventh place in 15:55.35. Price won his heat of the 400-meter dash and tied for fifth overall in a time of 53.17 seconds and also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash in 23.81 seconds. Clark took fifth place in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles in 15.93 seconds after posting a time of 15.81 seconds in the preliminaries. 

In the field, Clark was the runner-up in the high jump as he cleared a height of 6 feet, 1.5 inches while freshman jumper Kai Yee (Berea/Berea-Midpark) took third in the same event with a mark of 5'10". Freshman thrower Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) hit a mark of 162'11" to finish as the runner-up in the javelin throw. 

BW continues the outdoor season on Saturday, March 27, when the Yellow Jackets travel to Alliance for a meet at the University of Mount Union inside Mount Union Stadium.
