Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Ties for Eighth after Day 1 of OAC Championships

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team has tied for eighth place after one day of action at the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Heidelberg University inside Hoernemann Stadium. 

BW is tied for eighth place of 10 teams along with host Heidelberg as both teams have earned five points. The University of Mount Union leads the championship meet with a total of 78 points. 

In preliminary action, sophomore hurdler ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) finished second in his heat of the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.94 seconds, which was the fourth-fastest time overall. Clark now advances to the 110 hurdle finals, which will be contested on the second day of the meet. 

As one of three finals contested on the track on the first day, the 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore distance runner Casey White (Mount Gilead), senior distance runner Jose Reynoso (Painesville/Harvey), freshman distance runner Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg/Benedictine) and junior distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) combined for a seventh-place finish in a BW season-best time of 8:11.52, scoring two points for the Yellow Jackets. 

Out in the field, freshman thrower Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) earned three points for the team total by placing sixth in the javelin throw with a mark of 147 feet, 11 inches. 

BW concludes the two-day 2021 OAC Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 7, beginning at 11 a.m. inside Hoernemann Stadium.
