Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Places Ninth at OAC Elite Meet

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team placed 10th at the Ohio Athletic Conference Elite Outdoor Meet, hosted by Otterbein University inside Memorial Stadium. 

BW placed ninth of 10 teams with 29 points and was just two points away from tying for seventh place with Capital University. The University of Mount Union won the meet with a total of 226 points. 

Sophomore hurdler ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) turned in some impressive times in both the preliminaries and the finals of the 110-meter hurdles. He posted the third-fastest overall time in the preliminaries, which was a career-best 15.01 seconds. Clark ran another career-best time in the finals and finished fourth in 14.76 seconds, which currently ranks as the 12th fastest time in the country. Senior distance runner Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) placed third in the 10,000-meter run in a career-best 31:52.36, which ranks 17th in all of NCAA Division III at the start of the meet. 

Two other student-athletes also recorded career bests on the track, starting with junior distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) who placed seventh in the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.54. Freshman sprinter Marcus Price (North Ridgeville) added a point to BW's team total with his eighth-place finish 200-meter dash in a career-best 23.13 seconds. 

In relay action, the 4x100-meter relay team of freshman sprinter Mason Birkbeck (Wadsworth), Clark, freshman sprinter Desmond Manley (Akron/St. Vincent/-St. Mary) and Price placed sixth in a time of 44.83 seconds. 

Out in the field, freshman thrower Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) finished as the runner-up in the javelin throw with a mark of 156 feet, 2 inches. Meanwhile, junior thrower Jake Mantle (North Royalton) placed sixth in the shot put with a career-best mark of 44'4.75". 

BW will make a return trip to Tiffin on Saturday, April 24, to compete in the Monica Scott Invitational, hosted by Heidelberg University inside Hoernemann Stadium.
