Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Takes Third at Heidelberg’s Greg Tyson Invite

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team took third at the Greg Tyson Jr. Invitational, hosted by Heidelberg University inside Hoernemann Stadium. 

BW placed third of five teams with a total of 88 points. Ohio Northern University won the meet with 203 points. 

Sweeping the top two spots in the 1,500-meter run were junior distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) and sophomore distance runner Kyle White (Mount Gilead). Both turned in career-best times as Prather won the event in 4:05.04 and White was the runner-up in 4:06.47

Sophomore hurdler ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) and freshman sprinter Marcus Price (North Ridgeville) also notched runner-up finishes on the track. Clark hurdled through to a career-best 15.61 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles while Price ran a career-best 51.58 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Freshman distance runner Kyle Smith (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) added six points to BW's team total with his third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.80. 

In relay action, the 4x400-meter relay team of Price, Prather, freshman sprinter Desmond Manley (Akron/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Clark finished fourth in a BW season-best time of 3:32.86. 

Out in the field, Clark tied for second in the high jump after clearing a height of 5 feet, 10.75 inches. Freshman thrower Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) claimed a runner-up finish of his own in the javelin throw with his longest toss traveling 161'2". Barnes also placed fourth in the discus throw with a career-best mark of 133'10". Junior thrower Jake Mantle (North Royalton) recorded a career best of 156''8" in the hammer throw to finish fourth. 

BW competes again on Saturday, April 17, at the OAC Elite Meet, hosted by Otterbein University inside Memorial Stadium.
