Achladis Named OAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – For the second time in his career, Baldwin Wallace University sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) has been named OAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

Achladis won the discus event at the 49th Annual Sparky Adams Invitational with a mark of 159 feet, 5 inches. He also was the runner-up in the shot put by tossing 50'10.75" and set a career-best of 148'1" in the hammer throw to finish sixth. Achladis currently holds the 10th and 11th best marks in the country in the shot put and the discus, respectively.

This outdoor season, Achladis has career-best tosses of 52'9.25" in the shot put and 162'1" in the discus. He earned All-Ohio honors as the champion in the discus at the 2018 All-Ohio Outdoor Championships. The sophomore is coming off an indoor season in which he earned his first All-OAC honor with a third-place finish in the shot put and an United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region selection in the shot put.

Achladis and the rest of the Yellow Jackets will next compete in the 2018 OAC Outdoor Championships Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, hosted by Ohio Northern University inside Kerscher Stadium.
