Men's Indoor Track and Field Wins First Ever Taraschke Classic

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field teams won the first ever Dr. William Taraschke Classic on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

BW finished first of six teams with 192 points.

BW was led by, sophomore All-American Jordan Leverette (Cleveland/John Adams) and junior distance runner Evan Milovich (Westlake). Leverette set the school-record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.76 seconds, Leverette also had a qualifying career-best time of 6.50 seconds in the 55-meter dash but did not compete in the finals. Milovich won the mile with a career-best finish of 4:31.68 and the second in the 3,000-meter run with a season-best time of 9:16.03.

In addition, junior thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) finished first with a weight throw of 55 feet 2 inches.  Junior thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) finished first in the shot put with a season-best throw of 49' 9''.  Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference pole vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) won the pole vaulting event with a vault of 14 feet 7.25 inches. Junior distance runner Brady Jeffers (South Amherst/Firelands) won the 1,000-meter with a career-best time of 2:41.50. Sophomore distance runner Phil Spronz (Strongsville) placed second in the 5,000-meter run with a career-best time of 16:53.64.

In relay action, the Yellow Jackets took first and second in the 4x200-meter relay. The winning team of junior sprinter Trypp Washington (Orlando, Fla./First Academy), freshman sprinter Kris Hart (Van Wert), Leverette, sophomore Brandon Cole (Vermilion)  took first with a season-best time of 1:33.27. The second place team featured junior Vee Sealey (Painesville / Harvey), freshman Jesse Kucewicz (Lancaster, N.Y./Central), sophomore Noah Kendrick (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and freshman Robby Becker (South Amherst / Firelands) finished in a time of 1:37.65.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday February 3 and 4 when it travels to Hillsdale, Michigan for the Hillsdale (Mich.) College Wide Track Classic ege in the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center.
