Men's Outdoor Track and Field Team Finishes Third at Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team opened the outdoor portion of its schedule with a third-place finish at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) Early Bird Invitational inside Cook Stadium.

BW finished third of six teams with 102 points. Rose-Hulman won the men's side with 272 points.  

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) and junior distance runner Brady Jeffers (South Amherst/ Firelands) as they each won events for BW. Smith won the shot put with a throw of 49 feet 8.25 inches and Jeffers won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:12.68.

In the shot put event with Smith, freshman thrower Carson Kinney (Greenwich/ South Central) placed third with a career-best throw of 46'1.5'' and freshman thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/ Elyria Catholic) finished fourth with a career-best mark of 45'7.25''. Junior All-OAC thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./ Fort Cherry) finished second in the javelin throw and hammer throw with marks of 161'8'' in the javelin  and 155'3'' in the hammer throw. Dysert also finished fourth in the discus throw with a toss of 136'6'' and was joined by Kinney as he earned a fifth place finish in the discus with a career-best throw of 135'3''.

In the other running events, freshman hurdler Robby Becker (South Amherst/ Firelands) placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 15.64 seconds. Sophomore All-OAC hurdler Brandon Cole (Vermilion) finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a career-best finish of 57.79 seconds. Junior distance runner Evan Milovich (Westlake) and freshman sprinter Kris Hart (Van Wert) each earned fourth place finishes. Milovich recorded a time of 15:30.78 in the 5,000-meter run and Hart had a career-best finish of 11.36 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Junior sprinter Vee Sealey (Painesville/ Harvey) also finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.41 seconds.  

BW is back in action on Saturday, March 25 when it travels to Townson, Maryland for the Goucher (Md.) College Track & Field Classic inside Gopher Stadium.
