NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Baldwin Wallace University junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) placed 15th in the shot put at the 2017 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet hosted by North Central (Ill.) College on the Al B. Carius Track.
Smith, who has a career-best throw of 50-feet and eight and one-half inches a year ago, finished 15th with a throw of 47' 6.5". This season, he earned All-Great Lakes Region honors and earned his second straight All-OAC accolade in the shot put with a third place finish. This was Smith's first appearance at an NCAA Div. III national meet.
Smith and his Yellow Jacket teammates begin the 2017 outdoor portion of their schedule this Saturday, March 18 when the men's and women's teams travel to Terre Haute, Indiana for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Early Bird Invitational inside the William Welch Complex.
