Men's Track and Field Competes at John Homon Open

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team competes at the unscored John Homon Open hosted by the University of Mount Union inside Mount Union Stadium.

BW was led by, senior pole vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) and junior All-OAC thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton). Spilker placed second in the pole vault event with a career-best vault of 15 feet 3.25 inches. Smith placed fifth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 51'7.5''.

In addition to Smith in the shot put event, freshman thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) finished seventh with a career-best mark of 48'1.5''. In the discus event, freshman Carson Kinney (Greenwich/South Central) placed ninth with a career-best throw of 152'1'', Achladis finished 10th with a mark of 145'1.75'' and junior All-OAC thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry)  placed 12th with a throw of 144'1.75''. In the hammer throw, Dysert placed sixth with a throw of 168'0.50'' and Smith finished ninth with a mark of 150'9''. In the javelin throw, Dysert placed eighth with a mark of 162'4.75'' and junior thrower Jared Reimel (Lake Mary, Fla./Lyman) finished 10th with a career-best toss of 152'1''.  Freshman jumper Kyle Aerni (Strongsville/St. Ignatius) placed 10th in the long jump with a career-best mark of 20'3.25''.

In the 100-meter dash freshmen sprinters Darion Greer (Toledo/Central Catholic) finished 11th with a career-best time of 11.18 seconds and Deion Greer (Toledo/Central Catholic) finished 14th with a career-best finish of 11.30 seconds. Sophomore hurdler Brandon Cole (Vermilion) finished 12th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.20 seconds.

In relay action, freshman sprinter Kris Hart (Van Wert), Darion Greer, Deion Greer and Cole teamed up for a sixth place finish in the 4x100-meter relay with a season-best 43.32 seconds. In the 4x400-meter run junior distance runner Brady Jeffers (South Amherst/Firelands), Cole, sophomore sprinter Noah Kendrick (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and junior distance runner Evan Milovich (Westlake) finished 13th with a season-best time of 3:38.80.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 15 when they travel to Delaware for the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the George Gauthier Track
