Men's Indoor Track and Field Places Sixth at All-Ohio Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field teams finished sixth at the All-Ohio Division III Indoor Championships hosted by Otterbein University in the Clements Recreation Center.

BW finished sixth of 18 teams with 51 points. The University of Mount Union won with 105 points and the women's with 174.5 points. The top three individuals in each event and the top three relay team earn All-Ohio honors.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore sprinter Jordan Leverette (Cleveland/John Adams) and as he set the school-record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.06 seconds. Leverette reestablishes his previous record of 49.76 seconds in the 400-meter dash he set earlier this season at the Dr. Taraschke Classic. In addition, Leverette also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.22 seconds.

In the other running events, junior distance runners Brady Jeffers (South Amherst/Firelands) and Evan Milovich (Westlake) earned top-10 finishes. Jeffers placed 10th in the 800-meter run with a career-best finish of 2:01.07 and Milovich finished ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of career-best finish of 15:31.40.

In the field events, junior thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) won the shot put with a career-best throw of 52 feet 9.25 inches.  In addition to Smith, freshman thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) took fifth with a toss of 52'9.25'' and junior thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) finished seventh with a career-best mark of 46'8.75'' in the shot put event.  Dysert also earned a third place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 54'11.25'. Senior All-OAC vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) eared a second place finish in the pole vaulting event with a leap of 14 feet 11 inches. 

In relay action, the 4x200-meter team of sophomore hurdler Brandon Cole (Vermilion), freshman sprinter Kris Hart (Van Wert), junior sprinter Trypp Washington (Orlando, Fla./First Academy) and junior sprinter Vee Sealey (Painesville/Harvey) finished sixth with a season-best time 1:34.50.

BW is back in action on Friday, February 17 when it hosts the Greater Cleveland Championships on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center. Field events begin at 4 p.m. and running events start at 5:30 p.m. with the 55-meter dash and 55-meter hurdles prelims.
