NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team swept Thiel (Pa.) College, 9-0, at the North Ridgeville Tennis Club.

Due to illness affecting a couple Thiel athletes, the two teams chose to play singles first. BW (2-0) got the night started after junior Michael Benotti (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) opened singles play with back-to-back 6-0 victories at No. 4 singles. Senior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Jake Elbin (Findlay) took No. 1 singles with consecutive 6-1 scores. Freshmen Grant Smith (Dayton/Centerville) secured No. 2 singles with two 6-0 scores. Freshman Anthony Tosatto (Creston/Norwayne) seized No. 5 singles after a 6-0 tilt in set one, and a 4-0 score in set two, before a medical forfeit from the Tomcat. Freshman Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) grabbed No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 score line.

The duo of Smith and Bennotti started doubles with an 8-0 sweep at No. 2. Elbin and Kernan took No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 score line.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, February, 28 for a non-conference contest with Westminster (Pa.) College.
