Men's Tennis Salutes Two Senior Student-Athletes

BEREA, Ohio- As the COVID 19 pandemic continues to affect the nation and the world, the Baldwin Wallace University Athletic Department and men's tennis team want to take the time to recognize the hard work and dedication of its senior student-athletes.

Jake Elbin and Jonathan Brunnet saw their final season come to an abrupt end on March 13 when the Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA canceled the remainder of the spring season and in doing so the Senior Day recognition he deserved.  

While the NCAA has extended another year of eligibility if a student-athletes wishes to exercise that option, it is uncertain if each of these student-athlete will come back for another season or continue down their career path.  So, the University administration, faculty and staff congratulates these two young men on their outstanding athletic and academic careers as well as their leadership to the men's tennis program. The University would like to wish each of them all the best of luck in their future endeavors and hope that even after graduation that they come back and visit us often. They will always be a Yellow Jacket for Life (YJ4L).

Elbin is a sport management major from Findlay, Ohio and a graduate of Findlay High School. He is a three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete, two-time All-OAC selection and an Academic All-OAC selection in both men's tennis and men's basketball that will earn his fourth varsity letter this spring Elbin is tied for 26th on the school's all-time career singles victory list with a mark of 53-14. In doubles play, the Findlay native holds a 45-24 career record. Off the court, Elbin is a Dean's List Student and Jacket Scholar. He also is a member of the BW Sport Management Club and a four-year member of the Yellow Jacket men's basketball team. Elbin is the son of Ray and Lisa Elbin of Findlay.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brunnet is a middle childhood education major from Berea, Ohio and a graduate of Berea-Midpark High School. He is a two-year member of team that will earn his first varsity letter this spring. Brunnet appeared in one career match and played at sixth singles and third doubles. He is the son of Cyndi Brunnet of Berea.
