CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.  – Freshman guard Cameron Kuhn (Vermilion) scored a career-high 25 points as the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team won its fifth straight game and defeated host Pine Manor (Mass.) College, 111-79, in Pine Manor Gymnasium in a non-league contest.

This was BW's final non-league game and its second win in the Greater Boston area. Yesterday, BW beat Fisher (Mass.) College, 84-67, in Boston. The win also was BW's third in the last four days. BW beat Bethany (W.Va.) College, 77-58, last Saturday.

Kuhn, who had 15 points, including two three-pointers in the first half, set a career-high for scoring for the third straight game. He made nine of 10 shots from the floor, including all three of his three-point attempts, made all four of his foul shots and added three rebounds and two assists. In the last three games, Kuhn has scored 59 points.

In addition to Kuhn for BW (9-3), senior guard Justin Roth (Parma) scored 17 points, senior forward Matt Dennis (Spring Hill, Fla./Nature Coast Technical) had 15 and sophomore guard Brandon Gleim (Hilliard/Davidson) came off the bench to score 13. Also, freshman forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) had his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high tying 10 rebounds and senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference point guard Jaron Crowe (Mentor) had a season-high 10 assists.  Freshman guard Chancie Williams led Pine Manor (4-6) with a game-high 28 points.

A big key to the BW victory was making 51.5 percent of its three-point shots on 17 of 33 shooting.

In the first half, BW opened the game with a 5-0 run at 19:02 when Kuhn made a layup.  Following a Pine Manor basket, the Yellow Jacket lead grew to 17-2 at 16:12 as Dennis made a layup to cap a 12-0 run.  The Gators had a 13-0 run of their own to close the deficit to 17-15 at 10:52, but BW responded with an 11-0 run to push the lead to 28-15 at 8:18 when Crowe made a three-pointer. Again, PMC closed the gap to 34-27 with a 12-6 run, but undaunted BW outscored the Gators 12-4 to rebuild its largest lead of the half at 46-31 when Kuhn canned three foul shots. The Jackets also led 46-34 at halftime.

In the second half,  BW continued to dominate as the 12-point haftime deficit was as close as the Gators would get to the Yellow Jackets.  BW's largest lead of the contest was 35 points at 90-57 with 8:01 left in the game when Roth canned a triple.

BW is back in action on Saturday, January 10 when it resumes rugged Ohio Athletic Conference play when it hosts rival Capital University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 3 p.m.
